Net metering is a term that describes an electric company policy that permits customers to interconnect their small, renewable energy sources with the electric company’s power grid. Their bill is then based on the net or difference between what is consumed and produced on site. Any excess power produced will appear as a credit on the next bill.

As an example, Joe normally uses 1500 kWh (kilowatt hour) per month. He installs a net-metered solar system that generates 1000 KWh. This month, Joe will be billed for 500kWh instead of 1500kWh, his actual usage.

Kenergy offers net metering to any eligible customer with an onsite renewable energy source with a capacity up to 30 KW. Renewable energy sources include solar, wind, water, biomass, and biogas.
