Scholarship

Kenergy, an electric cooperative serving member-owners in 14 western Kentucky counties, has established an annual scholarship program to assist in financing the higher education of students whose families are electric customers of the cooperative.

Kenergy, through random drawings to be held on June 12, 2012 during the Annual Membership meeting held at Owensboro's Sportscenter, will award up to twenty-four (24) scholarships in the amount of $500 each as one-time awards to qualifying students.

The scholarship can be used for tuition, books, housing, lab fees or other costs directly related to the recipient’s education.

Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the student contingent upon the submission of proof to Kenergy of his/her full-time student status in the fall of 2012 or spring of 2013, and the payment of eligible expenses for reimbursement.

Scholarship monies not requested and/or used during the academic year, i.e., fall semester of 2012 or the spring semester of 2013, will be forfeited.

The scholarships will be awarded without regard to race, creed, religion, gender, handicap or national origin.

Eligibility & Criteria

The student must be a member owner of Kenergy or must have his/her primary residence with a parent or legal guardian, who receives electric service from Kenergy.

The student must be accompanied by his/her parent(s) or legal guardian(s) at the Kenergy Annual Membership Meeting on June 12, 2012 at Owensboro's Sportscenter. The parent or guardian must first register for the membership meeting between 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and then accompany the student to the Scholarship Registration Booth to register for the scholarship drawings.

The student and his/her parent or guardian must be present during the drawings.

The student must be a high school senior or high school graduate who currently attends or has plans to be enrolled during the 2012 fall semester or the 2013 spring semester in a full-time course of study (no fewer than 12 credit hours) at a post-secondary accredited, degree-granting college or university, a technical college or a proprietary trade school. Post-graduate college students also may apply.

The student must not have been a previous winner of the cooperative’s scholarship program.

Scholarship recipients must permit Kenergy to use their names, parents’ names, county of residence and photograph in the cooperative’s publications, including the member newsletter.
