Washington Youth Tour

Each year, Kenergy Corp. sends high-school juniors to Frankfort for an overnight stay in May and to Washington, DC, for seven days in June. These all-expense-paid trips are called the Washington Youth Tour.
A contest determines who earns the trips. In 2012, Kenergy will send six students on the Washington Youth Tour. The only criteria are: Students must be high-school juniors, and the homes they live in must receive Kenergy service.
To qualify, students should send their names, addresses, phone numbers, parents’ names and school names to Jeanette Weedman at jweedman@kenergycorp.com. The e-mail must be received by Jan. 31, 2012.
Then, by Feb. 15, 2012, entrants must turn in a 1,000-word essay on any subject about which they are passionate. It may be animal rights or the lack of activities in their hometowns. Students may write about the subject of their choice.
Only typed essays of 1,000 words or less will be eligible, so students need to watch their word count.
Entries not received by Feb. 15, 2012 will not be judged.
Kenergy will select judges. They may request personal interviews with students as part of the judging process.
Winners will be announced by the end of March 2012.
