In the wake of recent data breaches at large national retailers such as Target and Home Depot, Kenergy will change the way it accepts debit and credit card payments.
We expect these important changes to go into effect as early as September, and they will affect debit and credit card payments made in person, by phone or by mail.

A reserve fund that has been applied to fully offset a 2014 increase in Kenergy’s wholesale power costs to the co-op’s 19 industrial members is expected to end in August.
The fund’s depletion will end a credit on Kenergy bills this class of members has received since Feb. 1, 2014.
Business members should expect their credits to end at the same time.
As of Monday, June 22, Sandy Novick assumed the role of Kenergy’s interim CEO.
Novick retired from Kenergy in 2012 after working five years as the electric co-op’s CEO.
His leadership guided Kenergy through Kentucky’s worst natural disaster – the Ice Storm of 2009. The storm delivered a devastating blow to the co-op’s service area, causing nearly $34 million in damage to Kenergy’s infrastructure.
Novick will serve as interim while Kenergy’s board conducts a national search for a permanent CEO to replace Greg Starheim.
Starheim announced his resignation on May 1. He has accepted a job as a senior vice president for industry development and the electric cooperative network at the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corp.
Kenergy’s board has contracted with Mycoff, Fry & Prouse LLC of Conifer, Colo., to assist in the search for Starheim’s replacement.
The board expects a new CEO to be in place by early October.

Most people around Whitesville believe Jerry and Vickie Morris are angels.
If someone in the community needs help with medical bills, Jerry and Vickie host a barbecue cook-off to raise money. If a local group lacks funds for a Haiti mission, the couple orders chickens and Boston butts to grill and sell.
Last year, Jerry and Vickie raised at least $200,000 for various causes and nonprofits, including St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Trinity High School.
To recognize Jerry and Vickie’s spirit of volunteerism and dedication to community, they were selected recently as Kenergy’s 2015 Members of the Year. In their honor, the cooperative donated $1,000 to Angels for Ashley – a nonprofit foundation Jerry and Vickie founded in 2009.

Residential members can now text in outages and receive status reports when the lights are out.
This new service is limited to residential members with four or fewer accounts.
But don’t wait until you have an outage to enroll. The texting system updates once daily, so new enrollees can’t use the program immediately after they sign up.

If the cooperative does not have your current cell phone number, you will be prompted to call 800.844.4832 during business hours to talk with a representative, who can assist you with enrollment.
(ARLINGTON, VA) — Members of not-for-profit electric cooperatives are more satisfied with their utility services than customers of investor-owned (IOU) or municipal utilities, according to the 2015 American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI).
Touchstone Energy® cooperatives have consistently held the top ACSI ranking, receiving a score of 80 this year. IOUs and municipals scored 74 and 73 respectively.
By comparison, Kenergy earned a score of 81 in 2014.
